Simple way to "redact" MediaRecorder content without stopping the recording.

I have a use case in which I'm recording a user's screen via a chrome extension. If they enter a site for say... banking... I want to ensure that the screen content stops being recorded. however, once they navigate back I'd like to continue. This should be easy enough on its own, but my issue is that i need it to be one continuous video, i want the content to be say... blacked out while they're on the page with sensitive content, rather than the recording shooting forward in time.

Anybody with MediaRecorder Experience have any advice on how to accomplish this?
