Hello everyone. I want to state first that I'm not going to rag on Riot here, but I had a criticism of how the new system actually makes the issue of knowing more than 1 role WORSE.
Ill start with myself, I'm and ADC main who also occasionally enjoys playing TOP lane, as a lot of the carry champs like camille, Irelia, Yasuo, Fiora and etc I find to be fun. This sort of appifiny came to me when I was in my promo's to plat, when I was put into a game for TOP lane, and almost as a sort of wall, I had 0 motivation to play the game. I coulndn't put my finger on it at first, but it came to me why this happened, and actually still occurs.
In the old system, when I queue'd for ADC/TOP, there was an expectation that I might be placed TOP lane, so I had to make sure I practiced top laners in case this happened, as I didn't want to lose LP because I couldn't play my role. In this new system, if I am given TOP lane, there is no incentive for me to know and play TOP lane well. I won't lose LP on my main (or at least any amount that will impact me from losing 1 game in my off role), and there is no expectation that I must be competitive at at least 1 other role.
In my opinion, I feel as if I am not rewarded for knowing more than 1 role, and I'd go as far to say the ranked role system removes a motivation to know and be proficient at another role. This current ranked role system DOES allow for those who don't main a role, to be able to jump into said offrole and be matched at a lower level, however, the old system already kneecapped the average team MMR if you were placed into your secondary role.
What are your thoughts?
