The games are very short, the shortest of all gamemodes (~10 mins, while others are usually 20 mins on average), the objective is very straightforward (get kills, get ghosts and the masked punks, if you have three of those in a row you get a dank buff, whichever team has the most points win), and, the most important of all, you can only play the champs that you possess and/or are free, among a pool of 20 champions.
While the first few games may be very fun, the extreme champ restriction means that you will always have basically the same comp and face the same handful of champs while playing the same bunch of picks, which basically kills variety and freshness, when in addition to the very short game duration.
On top of that, IMO, one of the big thing with fun modes, is that you can play funky alternative builds viably on champs you like. For example, AP Ez has shit waveclear, but it isn't an issue when played on Ascension, where there's no waves to clear.
Not being able to play non-burst builds is okay, IMO, but AP Varus, AP Malphite, AD Sion, or any kind of high burst alt builds also cannot happen. You're basically forced to play vanilla assassins doing their regular build.
Full AD Kha? Full AP LB? Nice, that's exactly the same thing as in SoloQ. There's pretty borderline ones in this pool like Camille, but for everyone else, building full damage is already their regular build, or considered a non-troll build in regular SR games.
What do you guys think?
