What is a "play" in League of Legends?

Seeing as computer games are seen as sports I am wondering what defines a play in game like League of Legends. When I ever see posts or videos with LoLI find that everything is being called a "play" even if it just a something as simple 1v1 skirmish. When I think of a play I think of a strategy that is thought out and then executed, kind of how it is in hockey, basketball, and football. So what exactly is a play? Do coaches make up playbooks for League of Legends?
