Four months in with my beautiful 2018 Leaf S and not a single regret to be had, even as my only car! Now that the weather is slowly dropping in temperature for the winter, I'm starting to notice (as expected) mild range reduction. For example, I have a 55 mile trip every weekend, mostly highway. On or around a 65 degree day with AC useage at 65 MPH, I average 35-37 percent usage. Mid 40s with no AC around 40-ish percent. Tonight it was 33 degrees. As an experiment, I left at 100 percent and had the heater on the entire trip. 50 percent usage. Am I complaining? Absolutely not. I know winter affects Leaf range; Quite honestly I expected more, but hey, my leaf pleasantly surprises me more often than not! So, with that in mind, I'm confident during the coldest month of the year I won't have a range issue at all. But what I AM curious about is what, if any, precautions need to be taken to ensure good health of the battery, brake system, and other bits of the car during these trips when the temperature goes below 20 degrees F. Will ePedal behave differently? Will I need to somehow warm it up? And what affect, if any, will snow have on my leaf? Finally, what's been your "coldest" driving experience in a second gen leaf? Let me know. I'm definitely in my leaf for the long haul!
Auto climate control? You mean a leaf will turn itself on to heat up? There's no way to turn that off, is there?
I dunno! I just did a 50 mile highway trip on 100% at 65mph in 14f cold. Heater only used sparingly to clear the windshield; no headlights because daytime. Got home at exactly 50%. I take the mileage with a grain of salt. There's a reason why they call it the guess o meter!
Do you think Nissan would swap that for a heat pump? How much would that even cost?
