Ever since my turo escapade in a cherry red Tesla model 3, I've been completely turned on to the idea of owning an EV. To my knowledge, the Nissan Leaf line has been one of the best options. I've done my research and lifestyle introspection, and do feel an 84 mile range would be more than enough. What makes me hesitant, though, on sealing the deal and financing a used leaf for the next five years is how the older models (2011 to 2016) have held up, especially for drivers that live in areas with regular low temperature winters, with 20 degrees and under, sometimes heavy snow.
So, my question: In your driving and ownership experience, how do you feel an older leaf would hold up as a daily, year round driver? If I do get a leaf, it would be parked on the street. No heated garage or anything. Aside from winter tires, what else would I need to prepare my future used leaf for winter driving? Would it even be wise at all, if I lived in, say, Madison, WI? And which models would you recommend for a good used leaf?
Thanks for your input. I want to be absolutely sure owning a leaf would be a good fit for me!
My commute is 20 miles round trip, chargers near both home and work!
Daily use is a 20 mile round trip commute to work; Given I live in the city, anything I'd need - groceries and other necessities - are nearby. And both work and home have very accessible chargers.
I'd be parking on the street; Though I'm fortunate enough to live by a Chargepoint charger, and a Chademo charger just a couple miles away from work. I'm pretty much covered for charging for my commutes!

It's about a 20 mile round trip; But there's a ChaDeMo charger a couple miles from work, and a smaller Chargepoint charger that's within a five minute walk from my home. Definitely need the CWP for my area!
