Hey guys. I just bought a 2016 Nissan Leaf SV yesterday. I am absolutely in love with my new (to me) elecric car. It's beautiful and everything I've ever wanted in a car, it seems. Although I did a bit of research and thinking before purchasing this car, now that I've actually bought it everything is starting to become real. Now I'm realizing what this means for my lifestyle and how different things will be. Part of the reason I got this car is because I knew it would force me to be more mindful, and force me out of my comfort zone. However, I'm really nervous and second guessing my decision. I came here in hopes to alleviate some of my concerns.
My normal routine is to stay at home (I work from home) and take my two young daughters to the local playground or grocery store, shopping, etc. every other day. Nothing more than a few miles away. However, there are 2 locations that I may visit once or twice every couple of weeks that I'm nervous about.
- My kids grandparents - they live approx 30 miles away (90% of that is interstate). I know they have a Kohls with charging stations about 5 miles away from their house. However, how do I know if that is a quick charger? How do I find out if I will have to pay for it? If it's open 24 hours? Can I pay with my card at the charging station or do I have to use an app?
- Person I recently started dating - he also lives in a somewhat rural area 60 miles away from where I have to drop my kids off at the baby sitters. I discovered there is a cracker barrel with a blink charger(?) about 25 mins from his place that's somewhat in route back home. How can I be sure that's a quick charge and that it will work? What if I get out there and I'm stranded? I only have a babysitter for 4 hours and I'm determined to have a good night! :p
Do quick chargers usually take 30 minutes? How long does it take to charge from home with your manufacturer charger? Is there an app or website that helps plan multiple location trips with your leaf? How reliable is the 2016 Leaf internal car map with charging locations? Does it tell you the difference between whether it's a nearby fast charge or level 2?
I have a million questions if you haven't noticed! Thanks so much. Any help to lessen my anxiety about this would be very appreciated.
Thanks so much!
