what belt size is correct

My craftsman mower model number is 917287301 I think it's a yts 4500 not sure....what's the drive belt size? It shows 1/2 X 92 2/5 but that seems too loose ....maybe not...
Also do yell ever rough up your metal pulleys if they get real shiny either the one on the transmission or the one on the engine??
