I just need someone to tell me it’s going to be ok

Im doing what I can by hand, and the school that borders my property has helped dig some of it up with a backhoe, but I’m getting new bamboo shoots popping up in my lawn now. I saw somewhere on here that if you let them grow just tall enough to sprout the leaves and then cut them off at the rhizome the root system (rhizomes) will eventually die out but can take years. Is that what I’m looking at here as my best option?
