Fungus or Grubs?

Post Body

Would you consider having brown spots that are still firmly rooted, and soapy water poured over the area/perimeter of the brown spots as sufficient evidence to suggest it is NOT a grub issue?

If you would would have done these tests and saw no evidence of grubs, would that point you toward fungus?

I have not treated for weeds, grubs or fungus at all this year.

Central TX, nearly 100Β° regularly. Lawn gets 1” water weekly via 2-3 water cycles. I DO water in the evening (kids & dog tracking rings of wet grass in if watered in the morning).

Makes me think it’s likely fungus but I’m not aware of any quick tests for fungus.
