I have 1 year old hybrid Bermuda that in 90% of my property has done very well in its first growing season. The 10% that is struggling is struggling hard. And it’s due to the shade. Very thin and scraggly….

I’d like to put some Palisades Zoysia plugs in the areas where the Bermuda isn’t going to fill in.

My question is, can I simply core out 3” holes and drop in Zoysia plugs? As long as they get the water they need?

Secondly, I’d very much like to avoid re-sodding it in… There’s a Palisades SOD distributor pretty close to home, but they don’t sell plugs. Your thoughts on pulling plugs from sod? I know the root structure is much less on a slab of sod when compared to plugs, but I’ve been struggling to find a brick and mortar nursery that sells them in plugs.
