How am I doing

Dont do much besides weekly/biweekly mowing. Add some biochar sometimes. Backyard is somewhat harder to do though because of the tree. How do I approach the grass under the tree, it cracks its fairly dry. I planted fescue over there but moms bf sprayed selective herbicide (he swears he didn’t) it also floods when it rains but the fescue survived the flooding since it was only for a day or so.
