Post Body

I’m Jack Newton, CEO and Co-founder of Clio and author of The Client-Centered Law Firm. I founded Clio, the world’s first and leading creator of cloud-based legal practice management software, with over 150,000 customers spanning 90 countries.

In March 2020, as the pandemic escalated, we committed $1 million to help law firms navigate the difficulties presented by COVID-19. In speaking with the community about the uncertainty they were experiencing, we identified the need for lawyers to have better insights into the impact COVID-19 was having on their profession. We launched our COVID-19 Impact Research, a new in-depth research project to learn more about the challenges US legal professionals currently face due to the global pandemic.

In our second briefing, released June 17, we’re seeing the impact of reduced casework on billing volumes at law firms. This is having a dramatic effect on how lawyers are thinking about their business, and the longer-term implications of the pandemic. You can read the latest briefing here: clio.com/resources/legal-trends/covid-impact/briefing-june-17

With the challenges and uncertainties around the pandemic, we also decided to take our Clio Cloud Conference virtual in an effort to protect the safety and health of attendees, speakers, partners, and employees. A virtual conference of this scale will be a first for the industry, and will provide legal professionals with a platform to reflect on the past year, share their perspectives, and discuss how to transform the practice of law, for good.

I’m here to answer all of your questions on the impacts COVID-19 is having on the legal profession and why we’re taking this year’s Clio Cloud Conference virtual this year. AMA!
