I have a top-loading, stacked washer and dryer that as far as I know works perfectly. I use the All mighty pacs, unscented, and I usually only use one pod even for large loads. I hate having soap residue left on my clothes, so I usually rinse one or two extra times, and sometimes I'll run another cycle without detergent.
When I wash towels or bedding, I'll open the washer during the cycle to check it out, and I noticed that there is still tons of soap in the water, even after at least two rinses.
I felt bad wasting the water but a few days ago I think I did six rinse cycles, and there were still a decent amount of detergent left before I just gave up and put the towels in the dryer.
Does this sound like a problem with the washing machine itself? I hear that laundry detergents have what they call "brighteners" that are designed to stay on the clothes, but what I'm talking about looks like full-on soap suds. I prefer to not have that stuff on my clothes after washing.
