How much detergent needed in this instance?
Post Body

I had to wash a a pair of jeans and a couple shirts that came into contact with poop.

I didnā€™t measure the amount of detergent. But it was a fair amount, not sure if it was a full cap or not. And most of it I tried to rub directly into the fabric beforehand. I then washed it on ā€œfull loadā€ level of water. I also added some oxyclean type liquid but I donā€™t know if that helps or not

I only recently saw somewhere that only a tablespoon of detergent is necessary.

Over the years Iā€™ve noticed I like to use less detergent than what it says on the bottle and to re-rinse my clothes. My skin seems to me sensitive and itches when too much soap is used. I can just tell when someone else ā€œdid me a favorā€ and washed my clothes their own way.

P.sā€¦.. itā€™s an old washer with a small basket if that matters

So only having a few items in there is maybe an issue? I didnā€™t have anything else handy at the time to throw in.

I was hoping the agitator would well enough as far as the rubbing goes.

Basically yeah. Like how much would you use in similar circumstances?
