Laser Lamps?

I've recently started learning about lasers, so I hope I'm not asking some obvious questions.

I recently came across an RGB stage lighting system that was powered by solid state diodes. It is not your standard show laser powered by galvonometers though, it is sold as a replacement for some of your HMI discharge lamps. I am having a hard time understanding how it is considered safe, as well as how it is possible. This laser lamp is considered Class 1, but provides "thousands" of lumens.

I assume the .39 mW rating for a Class 1 laser is measured by power density over a defined area. How does someone collimate different light sources and spread power density equally and reliably enough that you can shine it someones face 32' away(mfg specs), and all is well?

Or do you just put 20 different .1mW lasers in a mirror ball and call it good? I don't even know what questions to ask. The important one is, how can someone make this safe when everything on the planet says lasers are dangerous if misused?
