I’ve been using a Dell XPS 9500 with maxed out specs (fucker cost me about 3k) I got it the spring of 2020 because I needed something to crunch data for my masters thesis at the time.
It’s a damn POS, and has had CONSTANT issues yet I was desperate and couldn’t afford to be laptop-less so I dealt with it.
Anywhooo, I’m getting more and more into coding (C, Python, SQL etc) and some computer science stuff and realizing a Unix-based OS is kind of necessary, so I’ve been wondering if paying the Apple tax is worth it for a quality laptop. Especially compared to any other (mid-range) laptop that I can just throw Linux on (never done that, so it’s a bit intimidating).
My last Mac was from late 2011 and still runs, but not very fast. Are they still built to last?
