Dell XPS 13, whats with the disconnect between Critics and customer reviews?

I was looking to get a Macbook Air but wanted to see what else was out there. Site after site had the Dell xps 13 as the one to get. Then I look at online storefronts and the customer reviews are not matching what critics are saying. It has a 3.9 on dell's own website. Has a 4.0 on amazon and a 4.5 on bestbuy.

Now a 4.5 on bestbuy isn't horrible but macbook airs have a 4.8 or higher on bestbuy & amazon.

So I'm just not sure why critics keep saying buy the dell xps 13 but customers dont seem as impressed.
