There is a guy in downtown Lansing, on the corner of Michigan Ave and Larch, who EVERY morning at 6am-ish, walks around and claps together two objects (like drumsticks or like two wooden/plastic objects) constantly making noise. I realize he’s on a public sidewalk but am AITA for wanting something done about it? What could even be done, if anything?
It’s an almost every morning occurrence and often times an evening ‘show’ as well around 6 or 7. I have seen him walking around Lansing (e.g., up and down Kalamazoo) so he does eventually move. But the constant noise is grating and I can feel myself slowly going crazy just because it’s always so early and often comes back as I’m settling down for bed/relaxing - nearly impossible to rest comfortably.
Any suggestions on what I should do? Perhaps I’m just needing an empathic or sympathetic ‘shoulder’ in advice or comments.
It’s got to be the same person! I think that’s what was driving me insane is because the noise was incessant and wouldn’t stop. Like almost robotic but I finally went to see what it was and definitely human. It looks like I just need to invest in a decent pair of headphones/earplugs lol shifting this small part in my life pales in comparison to what sounds like a lifetime of someone trying (and thankfully finding) comfort.

Honestly, thank you for this context. He’s definitely not a kid but possibly a young adult with those features. Even if it doesn’t change his actions, it absolutely softens MY resolve…who am I to steal someone’s happiness? 😢
