I have been studying French in class for about 1 and a half years and have been off and on studying on my own. I know how to use simple present, passé composé, futur proche, and imperitifs when it comes to verbs.
I am also really interested in creative writing. Would this be enough to work with to start working on creative writing in French, (poetry and short stories) or should I wait until I have more content in grammar or vocabulary under my belt? I know writing as a skill, and grammar are two different things, and both are essential to fluency, but I don’t know if writing is dependent on strong grammar and vocabulary skills or not.
The reason I ask this on this subreddit and not a French subreddit is that I the answer to this might be the same across languages.
Thanks much for your help!

I’m actually afraid of forming bad habits but you do make a good point. I think I’m just going to do it. 😊
