I watched this show the other night; I immediately thought of this forum when I did. It was kind of interesting I thought. Basically this 22 year old guy from West Virginia met a local Japanese girl while he was in the Marines stationed in Okinawa. He is now out of the Military and back home in WV. He I believed married her in Japan and decides to move there to live with her.
What was interesting is that it seemed he had not had one lesson in learning Japanese til he moved there. Which I can relate to being that while I was 18-22 I also was in the military but stationed in Germany and never learned the language. I also never married a Germany lady either lol.
At first he really is frustrated trying to learn the language but it seems he finally got a routine and private tutor to help him. I was surprised he hadn't tried to learn the language before he moved to Japan. His wife seems to speak good enough English but there is still a clear language barrier. The guy seems immature but I think has good intentions. I hope he ended up improving his Japanese despite how difficult it is to learn for an American.
I think it would be cool to have an AMA with him here on Reddit. I have so many questions on how he has adjusted to Japan, why he decided to move there and many other things to ask.
