Landscaping Help - Easy and Budget Friendly

Hi!
Looking for some landscaping ideas for the front. Will attach photos. I just want it to be warmer and more inviting. I'd prefer to do two taller plants next to the living room window, but very open! Would prefer these plants stay alive every year and don't need to be replanted, but open to re planting a few smaller ones each year. Location near Kansas City.
