Hi everyone, I’ve searched Reddit for anything similar and am not finding anything similar to what I’m wanting to accomplish.
I’m looking to extend my usable patio space and am wanting to do a cheap(est) method vs pavers or concrete. The space is 10’x8’ and is currently soil / grass.
My idea is to frame off the area with 2x6” pressure treated ground contact wood, and digging down 6”. i would then put down a weed barrier and then I would like to use standard 3/8- crushed gravel / rock (pictured) and pack it down until it’s level with the 2x6’s. I would then use polymer sand to bind it all together on the surface.
I know it won’t be the “prettiest” option, but the gravel would cost me less than $80 and lumber roughly $40.
Is this a doable option? Or am I foolishly making a mistake?
I do NOT want to use pea gravel as I’m not a fan of the look. The area will be housing all my outdoor kitchen units like my blackstone, grill, pizza oven, etc.
Thank you!
