For context, our rental home is being remodeled. It was my father-in-laws and he planted these amazing boxwoods 24 years ago. The contractor had a landscaper friend who was supposed to just come cut the grass as our normal guy has not come back from his winter trip to Mexico and with the early heat, the grass was getting long. Unfortunately they decided to try and shape our boxwoods. For context, you can see how fluffy and big they normally are are. In 24 years they have never been trimmed, or needed to be trimmed. Will they survive? Will they grow back out? Anything I should do to help them (I.e. shrub fertilizer)? We are beside ourselves over this.
