I had a deck and foundation added in my back yard. To keep the deck level with my patio, they had to move 10” deep of dirt. Amazingly, in Central Texas, it was all pure good soil. Because my yard sloped so much, I put in a retaining wall and had them spread the dirt there to level it rather than trucking the dirt away. At one time, some owner of the house tried to put in Saint Augustine grass but didn’t make it work. Afterwards, I double seeded the new area with a Bermuda and Rye grass seed.
My whole back yard is amazing now. This grass has grown in much nicer than I expected and the deck with a 9 person spa, fire pit, and waterfall makes it paradise.
Question: in the last picture, IS that Saint Augustine mixed in there? It looks like they spread the SA grass/roots in the new area when they move the dirt. It feels like a cool carpet now.
