I’m looking at building a wall sometime this year to level out my front yard. It’s coming up four feet at one end and tapering to no gain at the other. It basically means filling in a wedge in my yard.
I built a shorter wall last year and had dirt brought in for it. I described the second wall and they estimated broadly, to order two truck loads worth. thousands of dollars worth of dirt and they’re one of the more affordable options that can back up and dump straight into my yard, saving me many days worth of work.
their site shows the size of the truck, it’s not small. https://americantopsoil.com/pricing
is there anything that I can put in place as fill that won’t damage the wall and is cheaper than even low quality dirt and I can then add the dirt as the top few feet? Lightweight would be a bonus. I don’t intend to plant anything bigger than a small shrub near the wall.
Also, if you live in the KC area they do good work. Worth using. I used their moving the dirt for me service twice so far.
