New Land Buyers, In Contract, Would Love Advice Specific to Our Land
Post Body

Hi all, super excited that my wife and I are under contract to buy 16.2 acres in rural Middle Tennessee.

Land Info: Vacant, undeveloped. 14acres wooded, 2 acres cleared. Water available, no electric. Metal shed already on property. Trees are very good quality. About 40% white oak, 40% hickory, and 20% "other" (black cherry, sweet gum, sycamore.) Land is pretty flat and most is very accessible on foot and much is accessible by ATV.

We'll be using it as an "off the grid escape" from Nashville for 10 years until our daughter is grown and gone before we explore actually building an "on-grid" home a decade from now. My first order of business is getting a larger 30cc trimmer with brush blade attachements to clear some undergrowth. I already have a 45cc Stihl chainsaw, based on the downed and few dead standing trees, I may upgrage to the 70cc class (MS462 or similar).

Any tips from you guys based on our use-case? Building sheds/cabins, property management, forestry management, etc? Anything would be helpful since we'll be new at this.
