I apologize if this is going to be confusing (or random, or weird even) to some of you, but I think that the sneeze in A&W is a lot more deliberate than it first seems.

Hear me out: the sneeze in the song happens three minutes and fourteen seconds into the song, while she’s delivering the following lyrics:

I mean look at my hair,

look at the length of it,

the shape of my body.

If I told you I was raped

do you really think that anybody

would think I didn’t ask for it?

I didn’t ask ask for it.

I won’t testify,

I already fucked up my story.

On top of this

(SNEEZES)

so many other things you can’t believe.

In my ethnic culture (and upon consulting Google, many more other cultures) when someone sneezes while saying something, we say: “It’s the truth” or “the sneeze confirmed the truth”. Here’s one example of many.

I think that Lana is probably aware of this and the sneeze is included most deliberately in that part of the song, to let us know that even though no one would believe her, she is telling us the truth in those lyrics, and the sneeze is there to confirm it.

I’ve been listening to Lana Del Rey since 2011 and I am constantly blown away by the depth of her artistry and how much thought she puts into her work.

I mean, this is just a theory, but believe it or not I just sneezed myself while typing this, so I have to conclude that the sneeze did confirm the truth.
