It is commonly cited as one of the most important things to avoid when writing your specific aims but I can't think of any way to accomplish this with the project I am writing.
The project essentially boils down to a pulldown to identify proteins that associate with a known protein(previous studies suggest this protein exists). The entire project then becomes dependent on identification of this unknown protein(s) so subsequent aims are dependent on the first aim.
Is the solution just to make the project large specific aim with many sub-aims? Or is this something you simply can't avoid sometimes?
