We have a 13 month old labradoodle boy who is lovely and also extremely curious and in need of constant stimulation. He’s in what our trainer called a teen phase of testing boundaries and he swings from being the most lovely amazing dog ever to a whirlwind of agitation, theft, and destruction. Adding to this, the mysterious killer dog cough is hitting our city very hard and he hasn’t been able to go to the dog park, the groomer, or the vet in months.
We were always planning on getting a second dog, he was a second dog when we got him as a puppy. Unfortunately his co-dog was elderly and passed away in February. But we’re seriously considering adding another doodle type dog with similar age and energy to give him a playmate. Is this an insane plan?
Our whole family is pretty worn out trying to keep him entertained all day. We had a super high energy dog before him who was even more energetic than him, but she was only 20lbs, which limited her destructive capabilities, although not by much. We also have the means to hire a dog walker if we need to, so we wouldn’t be without help if we needed it.
What do you all think?
