Hi,
I've been playing some L5R online recently ( while await the second core set IRL ), and well... I'm losing. Badly. Maybe because of the fact that while everyone plays decks up to ,,Underhand" i stick to core-set only decks.
But more likely, it's because i don't get some basic game concepts. By ,,game concepts" i mean certain realisations that come with experience in each game and often stand au contraire to assumptions beginners tend to make. ( Fe, In Netrunner, it's the idea that the Runner can get in anywhere if they really need to, and playing around that as Corporation ) What i got so far is:
- While grabbing the rings you need is important, often it's much more critical to grab the ones that that your opponent needs, simply to cockblock them.
- If you're winning a conflict and defender passed, it's often advantageous to just take the ring. Investing in your characters beyond that to break the province is a good way to catch an Assasination to the face and walk away with nothing.
- Never go into an important conflict with just 1 character if you can help it.
- While we're on that, extra bodies are worth their weight in gold.
- ,,Go home bowed" and ,,Interrupt" effects are disgustingly powerful in this game.
Any other tips and tricks?
