I’ve done one of these before, but it was a long time ago and I didn’t have access to the chat feature, and it didn’t even occur to me to specify messages only, so I missed out on a lot of responses. Plus, my mental health was in a really bad place and I was struggling with my identity, so, not ideal all around. I’m much better and more stable now, so I’m back for another go.

Some potentially disqualifying factors about me: I’m monogamous, disabled and currently unemployed, a cat mom, childfree and intend to stay that way forever, and would prefer my partner to be between the ages of 27 and 40, though I’m a little bit flexible on that, within reason. I’m also a demisexual lesbian and a little bit overweight, and while I’m open to people from wherever, I would prefer that we work toward concrete plans of meeting in person when it’s safe to do so and we’ve known each other for a bit.

Plants, books, horror, cats, activism. Hardcore introvert. Writer, singer, chronic overthinker. Collector of records, lover of coffee and thrift shops, breakfast, autumn, folklore, poetry, and quiet moments of joy. Grandma-in-training. Chronically and mentally ill. Totally blind. I promise I'm literally, for real, totally blind. People on this site always assume this is a joke of some kind, but I use a cane and see only light.

Black lives matter. My feminism is not just for able-bodied cis white people, but for disabled people, trans people, people of color, etc. I believe in dismantling the systems of power that currently exist rather than trying to work within them, but am also enough of a realist to recognize the difficulties inherent in doing so. If you're right wing/conservative/Republican, we probably won't get along.

I'm fanatical about horror, movies and books and podcasts and every possible medium that exists and is accessible to me. Anything from a cheesy slasher to an atmospheric psychological horror, from teen screams to artsy horror that hardly has a coherent plot. Talk to me about this, watch it with me, introduce me to new examples of the genre that I've never heard of, and you'll have my heart.

I also love fairy tales, from all over the world, and retellings. I frequently incorporate them into my writing, and I actually have a forthcoming poem based on Jorinda and Joringel to be published in Corvid Queen in August, and two more that I’ll be sending out to other places soon, based on Hansel and Gretel and Sleeping Beauty (or Sun, Moon, and Talia). I used to be embarrassed about this interest because it felt childish or frivolous, but once you actually understand fairy tales and their significance to culture, they take on much deeper meaning.

I highly value kindness, thoughtfulness, creativity, intelligence, and humor, and if you possess any or all of these traits, they'll make up for a myriad of shortcomings. Make me laugh. Make me feel safe. Demonstrate that you care about the world outside your own little bubble. Tell me a good story. I'll reciprocate.
