Seem to have a missing component to learning bhopping

So im missing something in my bhop. Either i go very slow and dont accelerate or i walk, jump, and initiate it, and it slows me down to that same very slow speed.
I dont seem to keep momentum, and sometimes i seem to gain momentum backwards (?)
what am i missing? I've tried jumping manually direction and mouse, autohotkey jump direction and mouse, and scrollwheel jumping direction and mouse and it all turns out the same. I dont gain any momentum and it slows to a creep.
