Sequence Changing 3 Times Per Second?

I want to make a sequence step from 1 to 3, and do the full cycle once per second for a global variable.
I had put in:
$tu(seq, 1/180, 1, 3)$
but it still only went once every second, so I increased the 180 to 540, but it was still constrained to 1 second.
Is it possible to have the sequence go at smaller increments than 1 second?
