I'm doing kubernetes for last 2 years. And during that time I've tried multiple CNIs, from weave, callico to flannel etc. And frankly, I'm now reading about [slim](https://blog.acolyer.org/2019/03/22/slim-os-kernel-support-for-a-low-overhead-container-overlay-network/) and wondering....why have a overlay in the first place?
What's wrong with having ordinary routing tables, maybe some OSPF on top for dynamic configuration update for new node additions. Just native host routing with CNI bridge loopback portman plugin configured and IP addresses allocated from the hosts CIDR?
