I was looking at the consolidated Union pension fund for local 1996 . I was wondering could I apply for disability with 24 years of service to Kroger and I am not age 55 yet I am in my 40's but I suffer from a disability from a surgical procedure I had which was necessary to safe my life .
I talk to one of the Union Reps she said I could take it if I have my doctor saying my disability impacts my ability to work which it does.
Well I called the Pension Fund asked them for a yearly statement like you can get from SSA well this women over the phone was the meanest nasties person I had to talk to she wouldn't give me the information I requested and I was asking about the disability part of the pension she said I need to be 55 which I don't get that when I have work for the company for 24 years I have earned my pension and any disability benefits come with it .I am like listen women you work for the Union Members which I am one how dare her treat me like that just for asking questions on my pension I have earned. What I told there is no penalty for taking a disability pension early from the Union Reps. How can I get away to find out my information I am asking for with wanting a yearly statement and getting info on disability pension part .
Has anyone filed for disability on the UFCW pension and what is your experience and requirements needed I am just trying get down to the truth.
