Kratom smells like paint?

Just got Red Borneo and it smells just like paint. Is this due to the fermentation or something, never encountered this. Before anyone talks down for not getting small batch I enjoy their stuff especially for the price, it's not fire but gets the job done. Havent taken enough of this particular batch to see how effective yet but that smell is just weird.
