so Im in need of some legal advice... and just some overall friendly conversation or kind words. I know this is off-topic but I dont know where else to turn to on reddit and r/kratom has always been a place with kind, intelligent, nonjudgmental folk looking to help each other. I tried posting this question several times in r/legaladvice but they just locked, deleted, and banned me. They called me a troll and told me not post there again. So I will post my question here and hope that someone will help me or tell me a better subreddit to post in. Heres my question:
I think I might have been sexually harassed at work. The women of my group called for a private meeting with me without any of the other males present. There they went on to discuss my "bulge" and tell me how they are often able to see it numerous times during the day, especially during our group meetings where we all form a circle with our chairs to sit and discuss that days business. They told me they find it obscene and distracting and that I need to buy all new, baggy pants so that I dont offend them.
So the thing is, I wear regular Dockers slacks. Size 32/30. I could understand if I was wearing some kind of spandex or stretchy pants or something out of the ordinary that caused an unnecessary distraction, but I'm just wearing standard business attire. There is nothing more I can do to "cover up". I mentioned this meeting to several friends and family members and they all said that it is sexual harassment and i should take some type of action.
This is the question I posted in r/legaladvice and they deleted/blocked me for trolling. They told me not to post there anymore and that I should contact an employment lawyer if I wanted any legal advice. Isnt that the point of r/legaladvice??? I mean, what about my question is so unacceptable? They were basically implying that this wasnt a real issue, that I was either making it all up or I was just trying to brag and troll. I was made to feel uncomfortable at work because of my body and when I went to reddit for some legal advice I was rejected, called a troll and told to go somewhere else for help and not to post there anymore.
So again, what is wrong with my question? do they think its impossible for a male to be sexually harassed? where am I supposed to go for help and advice without being mocked and shamed? All I wanted was to have a mature conversation about whether or not they have the right to tell me to wear baggier pants. What if a group of men told a woman to wear baggier pants because her butt was too big and they found it distracting?
Im sorry for the long post but Im really upset over how I was treated as a male complaining about sexual harassment in the workplace. I mean this is 2017 right? This is reddit right, a place thats supposed to support equality and be opposed discrimination right? Sheeeesh. Anyway, thanks for listening and any help and/or advice is appreciated.
