I know this is a conversation that’s been brought up a few times in this sub, but I’m just curious. With the release of 🆕👖’s Get Up album tomorrow, I saw this tweet that said that the entire 5 song/1 interlude album is only going to be around 12 minutes long! That’s an average of 2 minutes per song. I feel like this trend has started because of streaming culture and PinkPantheress getting popular with her short and sweet songs. I don’t know…I’m not exactly a fan of songs without bridges and big final choruses. This trend has created songs that feel half-baked and leaves me wanting more. A recent example being Enhypen’s Bite Me at just 2 minutes 37 seconds long and the last 20 seconds is just a non-singing Outro. However IVE’s I AM is just a few seconds over 3 minutes long and feels like a full song with a bridge and final chorus. I guess it depends.
I’m not saying I don’t like this trend as there’s been a lot of good songs this year that are under 3 minutes just wishing for more songs over 3 minutes. Also can we talk about how short actual albums are getting tooðŸ˜
I like songs to be around 3 minutes, not to say I dislike shorter songs, I just think you get less in that way. It doesn’t feel like a full experience, yknow? You’re always waiting for more
