i know this is old news but i saw a meme/compilation video about her as a mentor and it triggered some thoughts.
i'll admit i didn't watch the whole season and just clips of it on twitter and youtube but from what i could tell, yeah she was being mean but in a way that would benefit the trainees in their idol career. i've never taken vocal or dance lessons but i have taken formal piano training for about 9 years (yuck, this sounds so pretentious but i hope u guys what i mean lmfao) and i've had my fair share of 'mean' teachers but they helped me way more than 'nice sugar-coating' teachers. if lisa were to sugar coat and say "good job!!!! but ...", i really doubt the idols would've learned and trained to dance better. and let's be real, those trainees were a hot mess. couldn't even put up peace signs in the air at the right time and in sync lmao.
i also think lisa was getting extra flack because she's a blackpink member, and for some reason, everyone loves to hate on blackpink. pd101 mentors/teachers like cheetah and bae yoonjung (especially her, she's verrry honest) had said way 'meaner' shit to their trainees.

Yeah. I think some of the Chinese ex-members of EXO were on a Chinese variety show, and one of them was honestly meaner than Lisa (or at least the same level), but everyone was just praising him in the comments. There is definitely a double-standard. She was strict, but as an Asian, who isn't used to that? lmao. I've had actually mean teachers who did not have good intentions, so I can tell the difference between strict vs mean, and she was just strict.
