I made a similar post about this before on the unpopular opinion sub but I was thinking about watching I-Land but then was reminded of the Produce series. And then I remembered how fucking shitty i-fans can get over k-fans during the Produce voting.
Saying "Koreans are so fucking dumb for keeping -insert trainee-" or "I don't get why Koreans love -insert trainee- so much" or "I can't stand Koreans...eliminating my fave". Why be so hostile towards Koreans for who is voted on and off kpop survival shows...yeah they're the ones who vote (sorta) but come on. I-fans think their opinions are more superior than k-fans most of the time.
Like calm down...the survival shows are for K-POP groups. As in Korean pop groups. As in they're going to be promoting in Korea for the most part. I'm not saying that i-fans don't matter. I'm saying that just as an example during survival shows the hidden racism jumps out and no one bats an eye.
I’ve seen some American armies say that about Bangtan so it’s not really an exaggeration. Something along the lines of “we’ll treat you better in America”, which obviously isn’t the case because a lot of Kpop artists face so much xenophobia in the US.

As someone who is an Asian fan, I feel like I’m in the middle especially now that Ifans has become synonymous with Western fans and their opinions don’t generally match ours.
