Soooo I was browsing for some song credits on Namuwiki and... Lee Seunghwan wrote the lyrics for "For Thousand Days" himself - as a "breakup song" for his ex?

First off... I needed to DIGEST that. Because the "ex" in question? Is SHIN AERA HERSELF??? The actress from the 90s??? My tumblr feed goddess??? I am such a big fan of her and I NEVER had even thought of this. Damn, auntie Aera,uncle Inpyo wasn't your first???.

Now the thought of Lee Seunghwan and Shin Aera being a thing "for thousand days" - which is around three years time - makes sense. She debuted 1989, he debuted 1990. She met her current husband, Cha Inpyo, in the 1994 drama "Love In Your Arms" and dated him during filming. So unless she "cheated", which is highly unlikely, that leaves 3 years for them to date, 1990 - 1993.

Second, her featuring on his 1991 album "Always" in "I Can't Stop Loving You"(at 2:34) and "Whatever Happens I Love You" (at 1:41 onwards) and (allegedly) being the model for the girl on the album cover - that is her, undoubtedly. That voice, accent and speech is so unique I couldn't mistake it for someone else. Now this could as well just be an artistic collaboration, and nothing else, but the chance that he featured her because it's his girl makes sense too.

But there's still a few things that make me wonder. On his namuwiki page, their relationship is not taken as a confirmed fact, because it seems like both of them continously denied it or never really confirmed it. It was just that they visited each other's TV and radio shows unexpectedly, and she featured on his album.

As we all know, 90s celebrity culture loved to spread rumours and ruin a woman's life - so aren't the chances high that they were nothing but friends and media spread the rumour that they were dating? Which is why they didn't confirm it? Sadly, this is the first paragraph on Aera's namuwiki entry under "Miscellaneous", and it lliterally has shamelessly written "It was not common for celebrities to date, so they didn't admit it, but everyone knew", like??? We call that a rumour lmao. No one "knew", y'all just assumed shit.

And there's also this : If Seunghwan and Aera really were a thing, and they broke up in 1993 or the beginning of 94, and Aera met Cha Inpyo, dated him in 1994 and married him 95, why would Lee Seunghwan release the song in 1995? The same year they married? In fact, they married March 10th, and the album and For Thousand Days released June 29th. Barely three months after. Dude, that's petty af. And pretty... weird? Like imagine coming back from your honeymoon or your in-laws place, you switch the radio on and you hear your ex still not being over you and still going like "We were happy, I protected you, I loved you" like... bffr. I don't think anyone would stoop that low.
