I'm getting a new phone and plan next week (whoo!) and I'm going to have to switch my kakao account over.
The last time I changed over was when I first arrived in Korea-- I went from using my kakao account on my American phone to my Korean one and everything ported over fine when I used the email log in; contacts, settings, so on. But I had to create a new searchable username. It would not let me keep or port over the same one from my American phone even though the app on that device is no longer usable. I wasn't happy about it, but I made another.
Now my Korean contract is up and I'm switching services and devices, so I am getting a whole new number again. I'd ideally like to keep/use the same ID, since now this ID is the one all my old original kakao friends and all my old/current classmates and teachers from here in Korea have/added me with. Is there a way to do this? Kakao's support articles only mention how to log in with my email, unless I'm missing something entirely, not how to port an ID itself.
(Also if anyone knows if I could do the same thing with a Line ID that would be great!)
Thanks!
