Can foreign born Koreans do boot camp?

Post Body

Hey guys, I’m an Australian born Korean but quite connected still with my Korean side. Is there like a period of time or whatever where I can at least do some military service or boot camp? It’s not for any social media - there’s just a piece of my mind that feels like I need to go through it? EDIT: I am an Australian citizen - no desire to do any military and perhaps it’s trauma but I was just asking if it is a thing that people can do. It sounds performative I know, I promise it’s not - I just want to know if I can do something to appease Korean parents where that was a MUST, and for me it was never a consideration. EDIT X2: Sorry guys - I wasn’t trying to be offensive. Yes, both my parents are Korean citizens. I had to forego my Korean citizenship at the consulate in Melbourne a few years ago when I hit 28. Sorry if I ruffled feathers, I guess the question was even though I’ve foregone could I come back and do at least a boot camp (not for a certificate or whatever) - it was just a curiosity. I know it’s mandatory and I seem SUPER privileged even asking this but that wasn’t the intention.
