Bought a Koba Libra 2. Didn't want to create an account. Where my previous kindle I could just connect and put books on with Calibre, this does not work with this Kobo.
The Kobo asks if I have wifi, to which I state no. Then it refers me to download a desktop application (which I don't like). After I installed it, it tries to keep me signing up (which I won't do). In the background it seems to keep updating my kobo (hopefully to a version where I don't need to sign up - since I read it's no longer required).
For the price, the use case I have - I think it's a horrible experience so far - in getting it to even work. It's clear they want to get as much data out of you as possible, the the device is unusable as is without actually downloading software etc.
Probably would have bought a Kindle again had I known before.
