Is there a way to preserve annotations after returning the book to overdrive?

For some reason I thought if I re-borrow the book, I’ll still be able to see the stuff I’ve highlighted before (like the libby app) but turns out this is not the case. Anyone knows how to that or there’s no way to do so?
