I feel like there’s a lot of things beginning knitters don’t realize will come in handy! Here are mine:
1) a good hand lotion, preferably thick, like bath and body works body cream. ESP. In winter!!
2) and cortisone ointment/aquaphor/Vaseline. Knitting in winter has been terrible for my spot eczema 😫
3) NexCare waterproof medical tape. It’s the texture of a waterproof bandaid, and I love it. I also use this for wire wrapping—it provides a nice, comfy and secure protection barrier on fingers (for when you’re wrapping yarn around your fingers to keep tension, or when your thumbs need something to brace them if you’re working a while)
4) hair ties/rubber bands. Always. ALWAYS!!
5) binder clips—to secure yarn better and clip yarn labels to balls.
6) I hate most measuring tapes—they’re a pain to roll out and store. So I use a super awesome normal toolkit tape measure (the Home Depot, metal retractable measure that you can lock kind)
