I've been knitting for a few months and I have various sets of straight needles (most of which were given to me), but I want to get some DPNs or circular needles. I considered ordering some cheap ones from ebay so that I could try out a variety of sizes without spending a bunch of money, but I've heard that the smaller sizes tend to break. I decided to learn how to knit with the intention of making socks and other small items (and maybe some hats), so maybe I should just get a few of the smaller sizes to start out with? Do I need both DPNs and circulars? Wood or metal? What's the difference besides wood being more lightweight?
But.. yeah, any advice would be appreciated! I never knew shopping for knitting needles would be so overwhelming lol.
