A Question Concerning Circular Needles

Post Body

Hello! I've been knitting with straight needles for while and wanted to try and make the leap to circular needles, but it's proven to be a bit difficult, haha.

My question is: Does the length size (16in, 29in, etc...) of the joining part of the needles matter? And if so, what should I do? I'm trying to knit a hat using circular needles of a length of 29in, but all the tutorials I've found have people using needles with a length smaller than mine, so I feel as if I'm missing something...?

(Thanks in advance!)
