When Considering Yarn
Post Body

What are all the little things you look for? I mean every little detail that could possibly go into your consideration.

I'm trying to start a yarn review site and I want to be sure I cover every angle. So nitpick away cause the more you offer, the more I can provide.

So far, I have:

  • From the Label
    • Brand
    • Line
    • Colorway
    • Content
    • Weight/yardage
    • Suggested needle size
    • Suggested hook size
    • Care instructions
    • Price point
    • Where it's made
  • Analysis
    • WPI and corresponding yarn weight
    • How many plies
    • What kind of plying was used
    • What kind of dye effect is present
    • How soft is the yarn
    • How lustrous is the yarn
    • Is there veg matter in the yarn
    • How much dye runs off when washed
    • How does it feel against skin
  • Swatches
    • Standard stockinette swatch pre/post washed
    • Lace swatch pre/post washed (not sure if blocking this one)
    • Cable swatch pre/post washed pre/post washed
    • Felt swatch (a piece of stockinette stitching put through the felting process)
    • Agitation swatch (a piece of stockinette stitching rubbed against itself for 5 or 10 minutes to see how it would stand up to daily wear)
    • Single crochet swatch

I feel like I've covered everything, but I just wanted to run these past you before I really begin. Oh, and of course I plan to take pictures of all of these.

EDIT: I will be editing in suggestions in bold until we agree that we've got everything important
